With 24 years of experience in the advertising industry, Michael Dee is an inspiring leader and mentor to a large and diverse team at DDB China Group. His two decades of experience, leading to a Cannes Gold Lion, Silver CLIO, Silver One Show Award, and two Grand Prix awards at the UK Green Awards and China 4A Creative Awards in 2010, have resulted in his being highly regarded and respected by clients, colleagues and those in the Greater China advertising industry. His leadership has culminated in Michael being recognized as Greater China Creative of the Year; DDB China Group Shanghai named Greater China Creative Agency of the Year; and Tribal DDB Shanghai named Greater China Digital Agency of the Year at the 2010 Campaign Agency of the Year Awards. In addition to this, DDB China Group was named Ad Age China's 2010 Agency of the Year.
In addition to his creativity, which is driven by passion and curiosity, Michael Dee is recognized as an accomplished driver of business results. Many of his campaigns have also become benchmarks for the advertising and communications industry throughout China. For example, McDonald's fully integrated "Cheer for China" Olympic marketing campaign became a national phenomenon that attracted 27 million visitors to the website. The "Cheer for China" campaign was an enormous success for the client: winning Gold at the China Effie Awards in 2008; being chosen by Contagious magazine as one of the "Most Contagious Viral Campaigns of 2008"; and winning "Best of the Best" at the MAA Globe Awards in 2009. In 2010, the Green Pedestrian Crossing campaign for the China Environmental Protection Foundation won a Cannes Gold Lion, and went on to wins two Grand Prix awards at the 2010 UK Green Awards and the China 4A Golden Seal Creative Awards. Not surprisingly, Michael Dee is recognized as a 'through the line' creative leader in Greater China.
Michael's has been Chairman of many judging panels including the Longxi Awards, Taiwan 4A Awards and Times Advertising Awards, plus a judge for the London International Awards, China "Great Wall" Awards, New York Festival, Mobius Awards, AdFest Awards and China 4A Awards. He is also an EMBA Lecturer for Qinghua University and an Honorary Professor at both Nanjing University and Shanghai Normal University.
